Description of the theme: 2023-2024 MFP year will focus on culturally informed research, strategies, and clinical practices for recovery and harm reduction from serious mental illness and substance use with historically marginalized and underserved communities.
2023 MFP Intensive Training Institute
Location: San Diego, California
Dates: November 15 - 19, 2023
Theme: Culturally Informed Strategies to Recovery and Harm Reduction
Description: The FAHS MFP is searching for workshop proposals on practical strategies related to whole person recovery and/or harm reduction from serious mental illness and substance use with historically marginalized and/or underserved communities. Proposals should include either (1) ways therapist can meet people where they are in their recovery journey, (2) how to respect individual’s process for recovery and harm reduction, and/or (3) how to co-create hope for a dignified life as defined by individuals. Proposals should provide a description of the workshop (not just a literature review, please detail what will occur in the workshop), learning objectives, and whether it can be a two- or three-hour workshop.
2024 MFP Doctoral Training Institute

Theme: Using Research, Leadership, and Advanced Clinical Practice to Improve Strategies to Recovery and Harm Reduction
Description: The FAHS MFP is searching for workshop proposals on research, leadership skills/practices, and/or, advanced clinical practices focused on whole person recovery and/or harm reduction from serious mental illness and substance use with historically marginalized and/or underserved communities. Proposals should include either (1) application to self of the researcher, (2) application to self of the administrator, and/or (3) application to self of the therapist. Proposals should provide a description of the workshop (not just a literature review, please detail what will occur in the workshop), learning objectives, and whether it can be a two- or three-hour workshop.
