Mr. Lowery, serves as COO of the Foundation for the Advancement of Human Systems (FAHS) based in Alexandria, VA, where he oversees the day-to-day administrative and operational functions of the Foundation and its programs and identify strategic initiatives. Previously, Mr. Lowery, was the Director of the FAHS MFP Program. Mr. Lowery has a formal background and training in Public Health, Health Policy and Management, Analytics, Finance, and JEDI (Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion). Additionally, as a Software Engineer, Mr. Lowery helps to engage BIPOC with technology and career development. Mr. Lowery, serves the greater community in his role as an ordained Senior Pastor, non-profit board member, mentor, coach, career-coach, and author, serving the Philadelphia metropolitan area.

Ms. Horn is the Foundation Manager for the Foundation for the Advancement of Human Systems (FAHS), where she manages the Foundation's day-to-day operations. Ms. Horn began working at AAMFT in 2017 as the Program Assistant for the Minority Fellowship Program, later being promoted to Program Specialist. A native of Maryland, Ms. Horn received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Philosophy from Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Mbuaya (Grace) Kabemba, MSW, PMP

Ms. Mbuaya (Grace) Kabemba, MSW, PMP, embarked on her journey with the Association for Marriage and Family Therapy in April 2016, where she made significant contributions until her departure in July 2022. Following her time with the Association, Grace broadened her horizons with nearly two years abroad, enriching her global perspective. Upon her return, she took on the pivotal role of Associate Director of the Minority Fellowship Program, where she now administers the entire program, driving its mission forward with her passion and expertise. Grace received her Bachelor of Art Degree in Sociology and International Relations from Eastern Nazarene College. She received her Master of Science in Social Work with a concentration in Child and Family from Roberts Wesleyan University. As her interest in Project management increased, Grace went on to pursue her Project Management Certification in 2021.  Outside of the office Grace can be seen enjoying a variety of things, hanging out with her family and friends, roaming around DC, museum hopping, traveling, trying different foods, boating, concerts, and taking on new adventures.

Ms. Beck is elated to join the team as the MFP Program Assistant. Originally from Seattle, she moved to Maryland in 2017. Ms. Beck has a Bachelor of Science degree in Family Studies as well as a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education. Ms. Beck is currently pursuing a second Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy from Touro University. While Ms. Beck focuses much of her energy on mental health advocacy, she also has a passion for the arts. Ms. Beck has starred in various musical theatre productions as well as acting as an extra in film and is excited to pursue more performance opportunities in the future. Ms. Beck looks forward to helping others pursue their educational and career goals in the field of mental health.

Mariane Leon, Mare (they/she), serves as an MFP Program Assistant specializing in communications. With a bachelor's degree in English, Mare has cultivated a dynamic career in marketing, showcasing their expertise in copywriting, social media management, and digital media. Originally from Philadelphia, Mare now calls Virginia home. Mare brings a unique blend of urban and southern sensibilities to their work and personal life. Mare's professional journey is marked by a dedication to uplifting BIPOC voices, driven by a deep commitment to social justice and representation.

In addition to Mare's professional accomplishments, they are a passionate advocate for mental health and well-being. Outside of work, Mare enjoys exploring new places through solo travel and is a true lover of oat milk lattes, poetry, and spending time with their beloved community.
